BREAST REVISION

Breast surgeries, whether reconstructive or cosmetic may benefit from a secondary surgery. Some breast surgeries are completed in one surgery while others may be completed during several staged surgeries. It is also not uncommon to have changes over time or for new options or techniques to become available which you may benefit from even well after you initial surgery is completed. Some patients wish to change the size or shape of their implants, improve symmetry between a reconstructed and non-reconstructed breast, or address concerns with rippling or the contour of their breasts. Other patients may experience complications from a past surgery like capsular contracture, dynamic deformity, implant displacement or rupture. Addressing all of these concerns is possible.

If you are experiencing complications from a past breast surgery or you simply want to make a change, you should consider a revisional breast surgery. You may be a good candidate for secondary breast surgery if you are a relatively healthy adult at a stable weight who is looking to change the appearance and function of the breasts. It is vital that you have realistic expectations and a positive outlook.

BENEFITS OF SURGERY

  • Address undesired results from a past surgery
  • Relieves pain
  • Eliminates distortion of breasts
  • Corrects asymmetry
  • Updates past procedure

WHAT TO EXPECT

Once the decision is made to move forward with surgery, our team will schedule a pre-procedure visit and select your surgery date. Revisional procedures vary and may be performed under general anesthesia or just by numbing the area. Surgery time varies depending on the selected procedures. You will go home the same day as surgery to recover. We recommend you plan for extra help around the house for the days following your procedure as you adjust and recover. Recovery for each patient varies and depends on your lifestyle.
